Strimm supports VAST (Video Ad Serving Template) tags so you can run video ads on your channel and monetize your audience. Configure this from Integrate VAST Tag in the studio sidebar.
What a VAST tag is
A VAST tag is a URL generated by a third-party ad server. Your player uses that URL to request and display video ads. Strimm supports VAST-based client-side ad insertion (CSAI) — the player fetches and plays ads from the ad server directly.
Per-platform setup
Each platform requires its own VAST tag configuration. Select the platform you want to set up — Web, Roku, Mobile, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, or Google TV — then enter your VAST tag URL and settings for that platform.
See Per-Platform VAST Configuration for detailed setup steps per platform.
How ads play
- Ad breaks start with pre-rolls (before a video starts).
- Set your cost metric to CPM.
- Adding VAST ads to the daily schedule can shift your show start times slightly. Those time shifts will not be reflected in the TV guide. Use fewer or shorter ad breaks and schedule longer programs to minimize this effect.
Ad blockers
Viewers using browser-based ad blockers may not see ads on the web player. This is a limitation of client-side ad insertion (CSAI) and is outside Strimm's control.
Important: no guaranteed ad fill or revenue
Strimm provides the technical infrastructure to deliver VAST ads. Whether ads are actually served depends entirely on your ad network — its inventory, targeting rules, and fill rates. Strimm does not guarantee ad fill, ad impressions, or advertising revenue. Ad performance is determined by your ad network and audience, not by Strimm.
