Per-Platform VAST Configuration

How to configure VAST ad tags separately for Web, Roku, Mobile, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV.

Strimm lets you configure VAST ad tags separately for each platform your channel runs on. This means you can use a different ad provider, tag URL, or ad frequency on Web, Roku, Mobile, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV independently.

Open the VAST configuration from Integrate VAST Tag in the studio sidebar.

How per-platform configuration works

Click the platform tab (Web, Roku, Mobile, FireTV, AppleTV, AndroidTV) to switch to that platform's settings. Each platform stores its own VAST tag URL and options independently — changing Web settings does not affect Roku, and so on.

Setting up ads for a platform

  1. Click the tab for the platform you want to configure.
  2. Paste your VAST tag URL from your ad server (Google Ad Manager, SpotX, FreeWheel, etc.).
  3. Configure the ad options for that platform (frequency, pre-roll behavior).
  4. Save. The platform will start serving ads from your tag on next playback.

Repeat for each platform you want to monetize.

Notes

  • VAST uses the CPM cost metric — set your ad server to CPM.
  • Ad breaks start with pre-rolls (before the video). Adding many ads or short ad breaks can shift show start times in the schedule — keep this in mind for time-sensitive programming.
  • The shifted times caused by ad breaks are not reflected in the TV Guide.
