Audio & Radio Channels

Strimm supports audio-only streaming — you can build a scheduled internet radio station using audio file links from your CDN. Audio channels work exactly like video channels on the scheduling side, with one key difference: you provide a Placeholder Image that displays in the player while audio plays.

How it works

1. Your audio files must be hosted as direct links, typically .m3u8 HLS audio streams from a CDN server.
2. You add them to your video library using the Custom tab in Add Videos.
3. You set a Placeholder Image in Channel Settings — this static image shows in the player while audio is playing.
4. You schedule audio just like videos on the TV Program Calendar.

Step 1 — Add your audio files

1. Open Add Videos (or Get New Videos) in the studio sidebar.
2. Click the Custom tab.
3. Paste your direct audio URL (e.g. https://cdn.example.com/stream/audio.m3u8).
4. Add a title, select a category, and click through to import it.

Repeat for each audio file or stream you want in your library.

Step 2 — Set a Placeholder Image

1. Open Channel Settings in the studio sidebar.
2. Enable the Show Placeholder Image toggle.
3. Upload your image — required size is 1280×720 px, JPG or PNG format.
4. Save changes.

This image appears in the embedded player and on the Strimm watch page whenever audio content is playing instead of a video.

Step 3 — Schedule your audio

Schedule audio tracks on the TV Program Calendar the same way you schedule videos. See Scheduling your programming for details.

Notes

• Audio-only channels require a CDN-hosted source — Strimm does not accept raw audio file uploads.
• The Placeholder Image applies to the whole channel, not individual tracks.
• Audio channels can be embedded and distributed through HLS links and OTT apps just like video channels.
