Pay-Per-View (PPV) lets you charge viewers a one-time fee to access a specific VOD video on your channel. Set a price per video and viewers pay once to unlock it — no subscription required.
PPV is available on the web player and on all Strimm apps (iOS, Android, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Google TV).
Before you start
PPV requires Video on Demand (VOD) to be set up on your channel. Videos must be added to your VOD library before you can enable PPV on them. See Production Studio overview for how to add videos to VOD.
Setting up PPV on web
- Go to your channel's monetization or payment settings in the studio.
- Connect your Stripe or PayPal account. Strimm processes payments through its Stripe integration — you link your account so payouts go to you.
- Once connected, open your VOD library and select a video.
- Enable Pay-Per-View for that video and set your price.
- Repeat for any other videos you want to sell individually.
Viewers on your channel page or embedded player will see the PPV price and a purchase button for locked videos. After purchase, they can watch immediately.
PPV in apps
PPV in apps works through the app store payment system for each platform (Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Roku). The setup process is handled per-app — contact Strimm support for platform-specific in-app purchase configuration.
Viewer experience
- Viewer visits your channel and sees a locked VOD video with a price.
- They click Buy and complete payment (Stripe/PayPal on web; app store on mobile/TV).
- Access is granted immediately after payment.
- To restore access on a new device: the viewer signs in with the account they used to purchase.
Important limits
- PPV is per-video, per-channel. You set a price for each video individually.
- Strimm does not guarantee sales volume or revenue. Your earnings depend on your audience and content.
- Refund requests from viewers go through the payment platform (Stripe, PayPal, or app store). Strimm does not process refunds directly.
